The valley floor of Hop Valley is breathtaking with its flat sandy bottom and vertical walls rising on both sides. The trail is very sandy and well worn. The campsites are at the far end of the valley before the steep descent into La Verkin Creek. This trail is best in the spring, summer and fall. Easily reached from Kolob Terrace Road, the canyon features a scenic half-mile slot section cut through dark red and gray Navajo sandstone, transitioning from lightly wooded terrain into narrow rock corridors. Despite its striking scenery and photogenic narrows, the canyon remains lightly visited, and the roughly four-mile round-trip hike typically takes two to three hours.
9:55 - 1.2 miles / 2 minutter - 9:58
This trail starts from Wildcat Trailhead and goes past the Northgate Peaks Trail junction offering views of the Northgate Peaks as it winds through the ponderosa pine forest.
